 JANUARY 2012

Welcome 2012 !!! .........Fasten your seat belts it’s gonna be a bumpy year!

2012 ushers in the first 2 of the 7 exact squares occurring between Pluto and Uranus until 2015. The first of these will line up in June, the next in September.

Over the past year or so they have been teasing each other with near misses but from mid this year they mean business and we will begin to see the world as we know it begin to change dramatically. Much has been written astrologically about the next 3 years, mainly concerning huge political, governmental and economic transformation brought on by the oppression of the ‘everyday’ person, creating global unrest and the uprising of ‘people power’. This has already begun to happen as regimes are beginning to crumble and rioting is rife. We only need look back on the last 2 times Pluto and Uranus were in major aspect to each other to realise what we could be in for. The last time was the mid 1960’s conjunction and the one before that was the early 1930’s waning square both were eras of dramatic change and upheaval brought upon by collapse, rebellion and reform.

The higher side to all this, and of course where the Universe wants to take us is that we are being pushed to the edge, only to make some form of significant change for the better. How extreme do things need to get before the planet begins to buckle. The results will lie in the choices we make as a whole during this period of time to improve our lives, not only for ourselves but for all humanity.

The sky for January has encapsulated much of what I have shared above and looks like the perfect month to steer in this new era of change.

First of all we have to look back on the New Moon as the set up for the month ahead. This will give you an idea of the foundation laid for the next few weeks .The New Moon happened very early on Christmas day conjunct Pluto and square Uranus. What an appropriate signature, for the beginning of a new era. It opens with the Uranus/ Pluto square highlighted, though there is some slight breathing space with the New Moon trine Jupiter and sextile Chiron.

So here we see January, in a rather micro way lighting the fuse for the need to change.

This is perfect for any New Year’s resolutions, one of the few years where they may actually work, as the guts behind cathartic Pluto and rebellious Uranus may just drive them home. This will also be aided strongly by a supportive self believe from Jupiter (stationing direct) and the need to heal from Chiron.

Those who have the Sun or Moon in the first 5 degrees of any sign should take any resolutions seriously, even if you have Mercury, Venus or Mars there, be very determined to change anything that is not working for that planets higher good.

January 1st heralds in the New Year with the First Quarter Moon conjunct Uranus squaring both the Sun and Pluto. This amplifies the same energy on New Year’s Day and things could get a little rowdier than usual. Be very conscious on that day to allow freedom to reign. Accept everyone as they come, be open to the unexpected and the unusual and try not to control, restrain or thwart anyone’s need to be exactly who they are and this includes you. Allow yourself to let your hair down and make resolutions around freedom, change and authenticity. This will be particularly felt by people born in the first 10 days of Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn.

Also this month Saturn in Libra comes into trine with Neptune making its final weeks in Aquarius. To me this conjures up the image of structured Saturn giving ethereal Neptune a solid base from which to shift into Pisces in February. For those who have planets at the tail end or Libra, Aquarius or Gemini this is a nice opportunity with giving form to a dream, artistic endeavour or inspiration. As they are at what is called the anaretic (final) degree of the sign, there could be a sense of urgency or a need to get the job done quickly. Be open to help from anyone you deem as an authority, master or an elder.

The Full Moon on January 9th at 18 degrees of Cancer will be a day of becoming more conscious of your feelings. The Moon, full in her own sign may have many people more defensive, moody or snappier than usual. Check out what natal house it occurs in for you to see where you could be at your touchiest. Don’t try to analyse your emotions as this won’t work, but allow your feelings to bring up any ‘stuff’ that may need to be aired. Be aware that this will mainly concern being loved and a need to belong so take a proactive approach by initiating a moment of caring or connection with someone close and try not to turn to chocolate.

Always remember the planets won’t make you do anything. The choice is always in your hands. They will provide the wave for you to ride how you surf it is totally up to you.
